Unveiling ductile deformation during fast exhumation of a granitic pluton in a transfer zone

Exhumation and cooling of upper crustal plutons is generally assumed to develop in the brittle domain, thus determining an abrupt passage from crystallization faulting. To challenge this general statement, we applied integrated approach involving meso- micro-structural studies, thermochronology, geochronology rheological modeling Miocene syn-tectonic Porto Azzurro pluton on Elba (Tuscan archipelago – Italy). Thermo-rheological established deformation occurred at two different time steps: within felsic when first entered into 380 kyr, quartz-rich hydrothermal veins c. 550 kyr after emplacement. Hence, major conclusion our data can affect granitic intrusion even it domain exhuming regime.
